College and Career

Fashion Designer

1.       The career field that appealed to me was fashion designer because I love how with fashion you are able to express and show how you are as a unique individual by putting pieces and stuff together. I personally am in love with fashion because I always love to keep up with what’s in and what’s not based on the different seasons and the high end fashion magazines such as seventeen and vogue magazines.
2.       The pros of going towards this career is that it’s an mentorship which provides students to work one on one with professionals in that area and also working with the media such as Women’s Daily Wear and The New York Times. The next amazing thing is that you are able to go and cover the SCAD fashion show.
3.       The scholarships that this program offers to financially assist students are for strong and positive leaders and excelling within the SCAD community. This goes towards both U.S. citizens and exchange students. Also for entering graduates who have the ability of being artistic and high academic achievement.
4.       The college program takes about 4 years to get your bachelor’s degree.
5.       The annual earnings for this career are $64,530 but it may vary and depend on how well you do in this field, the location where you currently work at, and the years of experience that you additionally have.
6.       One interesting fact that I learned from the college website was that when you go to this program you get to work with many professionals in this field and this program works with many high end and brand name clothing lines such as Calvin Klein, Urban Outfitters, and Abercrombie & Fitch.
